Design maven, Michelle Adams, had an impressive vision for transforming her cozy fixer-upper in Michigan featured in the February 2016 issue of House Beautiful. Formerly inspiring the pages of Domino and Lonny.com with her discerning eye for spaces both extraordinarily personal, yet inviting, Michelle brought her classic and effortlessly cool style home. Working with California Closets design consultant Janice Fischer, Michelle sought out a stylish, maximizing solution for her bedroom closet that would help her showcase—and locate—her favorite wardrobe essentials.
In keeping with the integrity of her home renovation, Janice worked with Michelle to optimize the closet area and create more space, incorporating timeless design elements such glass shelves, elegant lighting and mirrors. The custom design introduced dedicated display storage for shoes, handbags and jewelry, while allowing enough rod space for hanging and shelving for folded items. The streamlined design also offered Michelle the flexibility she desired to easily modify her closet’s functionality.
I was surprised by how easy and fun the design process ended up being! California Closets showed me an iPad with tons of inspiration pics. All I had to do was click "like" on the closets that appealed to me, discuss my storage needs and by the end of our meeting, I had a fully designed closet!
Now I literally smile every time I open my closet doors. It feels good to truly take care of the clothing I've invested in.
The final design gives Michelle the flexibility to organize her closet and accommodate her busy lifestyle. Instead of stashing favorite pieces in boxes and overloading rods and shelves, Michelle now has visible space to appreciate her wardrobe…and what’s not to love?
