WHAT Amy & David WANTED

When Brentwood residents Amy and David Freese decided it was finally time to overhaul their primary closet, Amy already knew who she wanted to work with to bring her vision to life. As the owner of Cool Springs Upholstery, Amy had met California Closets design consultant Danielle Millis years ago and the two hit it off immediately.

Amy and David knew they wanted their closet to be functional, organized, and beautiful. But they also wanted it to feel welcoming since they’d begin and end each day in the space.

I told Danielle back when we first met that when [David] and I were ready to bite the bullet on our primary closet, she was going to be my girl.

HOW CALIFORNIA CLOSETS DID IT

Danielle crafted a “his and hers” closet solution for the couple, with different but complementary designs tied together with matching matte gold hardware and a stunning wall treatment that’s evocative of birch wood.

For Amy, Danielle chose clean, neutral tones with tons of open shelves and hanging to show off her shoe collection and colorful wardrobe. Other details like upper display cabinets, pullout accessory drawers, and racks for long necklaces and scarves further personalize the space for her.

David’s side, meanwhile, has club-like sophistication with the dark textured finish and sleek storage. A combination of solid doors and bubble glass door inserts lend privacy while still feeling inviting.

To establish optimum organization, Danielle brought in The Neat Method to inventory, organize, and store everything away!

Danielle and her team perfectly executed the transformation while my husband and I were out of town. We came back and voilà: we were greeted with the closet of our dreams! We are still pinching ourselves today. The ease of everyday living has been priceless!
