The First Showroom

Did you know? California Closets Montreal was one of the first to open a retail showroom, which we did in the summer of 1994. Our showroom is a must-stop for both retail clientele and interior designers looking into the latest trends in closet organizing.  

The most unique aspect of our showroom is our vast array and selection of available retail merchandise. Among the useful items are organizers for jewelry, make-up, and working desks, as well as an extensive collection of hangers in about 50 different styles to match everyone’s needs, aesthetics, and budget.

Our Story

Calfornia Closets Montreal is owned by the dynamic duo, Mitchell and Lianne Deckelbaum. Mitchell was born in Montreal and grew up in Florida, moved back to Montreal when he met Lianne. When the store first opened, Lianne had just given birth to her first daughter, and she would be in the store every day with the newborn as she advised clients with their organisational challenges!

Their three children -- who literally grew up "in the closet" -- are now adults and striking out on their own. But the first three people Mitch and Lianne hired are still working with them! And despite his many responsibilities of running a constantly growing business, Mitch still insists on going to design appointments. That's the kind of care and pride that California Closets stands for... 

California Closets, Supporting Montreal Charities

We are involved in numerous activities and charities in the community, working with Habitat for Humanity, as well as local endeavours geared towards women shelters and children associations. 

For the past four years, we have been a part of the CHEO dream home lottery. We have also worked with Bruce House (an AIDS hospice), and continue to support many local fundraising events.
