What She Wanted
When wellness blogger Emily Nolan and her husband moved into their new home, they couldn’t wait to make it their own. Built in the 1920s, the lovely home possessed plenty of charm and possibility, but closet space was at a premium. As a former New Yorker, Emily knew that small square footage didn’t have to compromise style or utility, so when the couple found out they were expecting their first child, they reached out to California Closets Miami to help them make the most of their space They planned to eventually improve all of the closets, but Emily wanted to start with her soon-to-be nursery, which was not only the smallest room, but also had the smallest closet!
“Mariel came to my house and showed me sample colors of the wood. She included California Closet’s sustainable wood options with low emitting formaldehyde, which is the perfect option for a child’s space and Oliver’s open-closet design.
How we did it
Emily worked closely with California Closets design consultant Mariel Taveras to create a clean, ultra-functional, and space-saving custom design. During the initial design consultation at Emily’s home, Mariel took careful measurements, presented samples of California Closets’ exclusive finishes, and listened to Emily’s vision for an open closet. Together with Emily’s interior designer, they communicated often and explored numerous ideas using California Closets’ proprietary CAD tool to come up with the perfect storage solution for the tiny space. Mariel’s clever design, which incorporated ample hanging space, accessible drawers, and shelves for display, also allowed Emily to utilize the open closet space for baby Oliver’s dresser/changing area.

Emily paid attention to every single detail which was perfect because I’m the same way! She was so easy to work with through the project and even remembered me on my birthday with a sweet message!
A practical and adorable focal point in baby Oliver's room, this small yet mighty closet is fully optimized for its many needs and has the versatility to keep Oliver organized as he grows.
