Inside Arrow McLaren Racing’s new kit room

What Arrow McLaren wanted
The Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team knows a thing or two about speed. When they’re running pit stops, efficiency is the name of the game, so when they moved into a brand new facility, that level of organization was top of mind. One place that needed streamlining: how to manage and distribute the team’s kit. They needed a centralized, organized space that could support everyone — from drivers and pit crew to office staff and executives. “The start of the race season is always hectic,” says Rick Hammer, Head of Experiential Marketing. “With more than 125 team members and over 3,000 pieces of apparel, being able to outfit everyone efficiently requires an expertly designed space.”
Flexibility was critical as inventory fluctuates throughout the race season. The previous setup was highly fragmented, with apparel and gear stored in cardboard boxes in an off-site warehouse. This system made it difficult to track inventory, fulfill orders quickly, and present the brand in a way that reflected the team’s professionalism. The goal: create a high-functioning, brand-aligned environment that would maximize every inch of available space while enhancing efficiency and team experience.
That's when California Closets stepped in. Designer Aleeshya Broome-Cordon got to work creating a solution that would hum like an IndyCar on race day.

“I’ve been an IndyCar racing fan since I was a baby, so being able to see this project through, and to have a whole new connection with the series, was a childhood dream come true.”

How California Closets designed it
To meet their unique needs, Aleeshya developed a highly adaptable and space-maximizing solution. Approximately 90% of the shelving is adjustable, so it can be easily reconfigured as the season and the inventory evolve. Instead of merely treating the space as storage, one full wall was dedicated to sample display, incorporating pull-out accessories and hanging sections to create a place for team members to browse and try on clothing. Now prepping a kit feels more like shopping and less like hunting.
At the center of the room, a multifunctional island serves as both a workspace and a storage hub. It features concealed storage compartments and specialized drawers, paired with generous counter space for pulling, sorting, and packing orders. This central workstation optimizes workflow by keeping tools within reach. “Throughout the process, the team would excitedly pop in to see progress and share their reactions (always positive) with each new development,” says Aleeshya.
From an aesthetic standpoint, Aleeshya aligned the design with Arrow McLaren’s brand while maintaining a refined and understated feel. Their core colors include a vibrant papaya shade, which is well-represented in the rest of the facility, so the preference was to keep this room neutral. The selected palette — a Shadow Black wood grain with dark matte grey Cinder accents — keeps the space sophisticated, complementing the broader Arrow McLaren environment without overwhelming it with color. Integrated uplighting along the top caps enhances dimension and allows for future branding elements like wall graphics.

“We’ve been able to customize a very unique space. Everyone comes in and just goes ‘wow.’”

Final result
The completed space is a seamless blend of functionality and brand expression. The simple, clean design feels elevated and speaks to the team’s need for efficiency. Features like the central island and the illuminated shoe wall stand out, combining practicality with visual impact. Every detail supports inventory storage and order fulfillment while doubling as a showcase for the brand’s identity. For those who visit, whether that’s team members collecting gear or visitors exploring it during public tours, the new space reflects the precision and excellence of the Arrow McLaren Indy Team — on and off the track.
