Behind our newest finish: Desert Agave

Our design team shares the color story behind our new Luxe Matte finish and offers inspired ways to integrate the shade into your own space.
Chartreuse, emerald, pear, pine, pickle, lime, sage. There are so many ways to be green. Perhaps it’s the hue’s rich history — it’s the shade of money after all — and intrinsic ties to the natural world that make it feel so welcoming, making it the perfect choice for our newest Luxe Matte finish — Desert Agave.
“Green has been part of design conversations for a while,” says Head of Design, Francesca Harris. “It is timeless, yet exactly where the customer is today.”
Let our design team walk you through how they landed on this specific shade and how they see it coming to life in your home.

Bringing the outside in
Green has been trending in interiors for years, with its rise being tied to a desire for more grounded spaces in general. While light and bright has been at the forefront for a few years, designers and homeowners are seeking something a little more rooted.
“There is a movement toward warm minimalism, away from monochromatic designs,” says Design Lead Jen Pearson. “People are looking for spaces that feel more inviting and prioritize comfort, with simple, clean lines and soft textures that feel elevated and welcoming.”
It’s not necessarily maximalism, but it is about bringing more to the table. Green’s earthy pedigree instills a sense of calm in busy spaces and makes for an innate pairing with wood grains and the Earth’s full palette of shades.
“I love a layered look,” says Chloe O’Keeffe, Design Lead. “In the past few years, designers have really wanted to add depth and interest on top of the ‘good bones’ of a design. Once the form is in place, it’s fun to start layering on texture and materiality to really give character, and start to curate it to the individual.”

A green that feels easy and enviable
To land on the right shade, we aimed for balance — hoping to strike the center of the green spectrum. Inspired by the muted, sun-washed agave found in desert landscapes, the shade conveys calm — an earthy tone softened by light and dust.
“Desert Agave is a mid-tone green that sits comfortably in the middle of the palette — neither too dark nor too bright,” says Harris. “It’s an easy, confident entry point into color. There’s enough depth to feel intentional, but it’s soft and livable, so it can fit easily across a wide range of homes and design styles. The result reads as neutral in many settings, offering warmth, depth, and subtle character without overwhelming the space."

Neutrality vs going bold
"When you pair Desert Agave with another one of our Luxe Matte classic finishes, the result is a balanced composition that feels grounded and timeless, not trendy,” notes Harris.
That desire to combine Desert Agave with other finishes is intentional. When we introduced the shade, our design team didn’t want to offer a single hue and walk away. Desert Agave combines with a full expanded palette to help provide a jumping-off point for designers’ and clients’ creativity.
“We wanted to create a way to experience and imagine Desert Agave as more than just a flat board,” explains Harris. “We gave it materiality, dimension, texture, depth, and range.”
That means integrating contrasting Linear panels in Sage and other neutral hues, new shades of our back-painted glass, and multi-purpose felt back panels. Layered together, it’s a multi-dimensional paradise for our designers (and clients) to combine with abandon.

How you can use Desert Agave
Those multiple materials can come to life in a host of styles and spaces, and our designers can’t wait to see what comes next. Perhaps starting with applications that tie the hue back to its natural habitat.
“I am excited to see Desert Agave incorporated into seating areas and benches under windows and in entryways,” says Pearson. “A garden or backyard view from a nearby window combined with the organic green shade of Desert Agave will create a feeling of calm harmony in the home.” Another transitional space option: mudrooms and entryways. “Since these areas are the gateway between the outdoor and indoor environments, Desert Agave will make that transition feel seamless and tranquil,” says Pearson.
In an accent space, Desert Agave can really shine. “I think it would be really great to see it in a small niche space, such as a bar, library, or shelving area,” says O’Keeffe. “With the beautifully coordinated back-painted glass paired with our new sconces, it could really make a nice little vignette!”
And don’t be afraid to go bold. “Desert Agave has a presence without overpowering a space,” O’Keeffe says. “Unlike high-contrast statement colors, desert agave adds impact while still feeling restrained, refined, layered, and confident. It’s an ideal bridge for both warm (like our Siena finish) and cool tones (like Quiet Grove, Misty Orchard, and Dove), which means it’s easy to add into a space with existing cabinets or flooring."

There’s no limit to the design potential and versatility, and we can’t wait to see projects come to life. Start exploring with your designer today.
