A Vancouver Home Office Gets a Multipurpose Makeover

THE CUSTOM DESIGN THEY WANTED
When a young Vancouver-based couple merged homes – and busy professional lives – it quickly became apparent that closet space was at a premium. But they needed more than just a smart custom closet design.
Looking to their spare bedroom, the couple hoped to configure a multi-purpose space that could accommodate a second wardrobe as well as a home office and guest bed.
This is a small bedroom, so when you build up to the ceiling, it makes the whole room feel bigger
How California Closet did it
With the help of design consultant Emma Beaty of California Closets Vancouver they collaborated on a floor-to-ceiling, L-shaped system with ample workspace and a custom dresser.
By using drawers, shelves, and cubbies, every square foot is maximized to serve an overflow closet while the brightly lit desk area and pull-out printer shelf make working from home easy and stylish. A built-in twin Murphy bed on the adjacent wall drops down effortlessly for guests while not obscuring the couple’s expansive world map.

The reimagined room is just what the clients hoped for: a clean, multifunctional, and organized space with a mid-century mood to match the rest of the house.
