Towson was settled in 1752 when two brothers, William and Thomas Towson, arrived from Pennsylvania to far. William’s son Ezekiel Towson, however, went into the hotel business and opened the Towson Hotel in 1768, which put Towson on the map. Farmers on their way to Baltimore to sell produce could stop and stay at the Towson Hotel and enjoy the hospitality of its owner. To this day, Towson residents still have a hospitable streak and love to entertain guests.
