Sales & Design Consultant

California Closets is currently hiring experienced sales & design professionals for our Sales & Design Consultant position.  California Closets is the original innovator in-home, custom designed storage solutions.  Through 30+ years, we have grown from in-home closets to all areas of the home and business.  This is an excellent opportunity for unique, innovative design professionals with experience in sales.

Our local territory covers Malibu, up to Morro Bay area.  We are currently looking to hire Sales & Design Consultants to service primarily the Santa Clarita-Palmdale- Malibu-Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village-Ventura areas.

Flexible Schedule
Schedule requirements are minimum 2 weekend days/month, 2 evenings/week, and 1 day/week.  You are welcome to open up your schedule as much as you would like for the greatest opportunities.   Occasional home shows and Design Studio shifts are mixed into that schedule (design studio shifts paid hourly), as well as mandatory monthly company and sales meetings.

Commission Pay

Expectations of the Position
Our clients expect us to be the best; expectations of performance in this position are high.  The following is on brief overview of what is expected in this position: 

·         Listening Skills
Listening skills are the top skill set of this position.  We do not ‘hard sell’ our clients.  We are only there to give them what they need and desire.  If we are not the best solution for them, we tell them that.  Otherwise we listen to their needs; we do not tell them their needs.

·         Self-Drive and Pride in Your Work
It is expected that you will make time and financial investments in your own education and opportunities to provide service that exceeds your client’s expectations. 

·         Time Management and Self-Promotion
Due to the nature of the position, you often operate to some extent as ‘self-employed’.   Your time is not micromanaged and you are responsible for communicating in a timely and efficient manner with our clients and your co-workers.  You will need to self-promote yourself through a Personal Marketing Plan, created with Sales Management.

·         Organization
It is critical that Sales & Design Consultants are organized in their paperwork and client files.  We use a California Closets exclusive client database and 3dCAD program.  You are responsible for accurately creating designs and communicating those designs with the production part of our business.  Through clear, concise drawings and communication, we deliver our customer’s expectations accurately.

·         Design Skill
This is a sales position which requires spatial concepts and the ability to create a beautiful end result for our clients.  We design entertainment centers, offices, bookshelves, craft rooms, and many other spaces that are visible within a home or office.  It is critical that function is the # 1 priority with design in our business, with aesthetically pleasing details.

·         Travel
There is a lot of driving in this position, as we visit clients at their location.  Travel could be anywhere within 0-3 hours daily.  However, we do create ‘soft’ territories, generally limiting driving to around 0-1.5 hours for most appointments on a daily basis.  You will need a well-maintained vehicle for this position. 

We are looking for driven individuals with experience in sales and design.  This position requires you to be able to be successful independently, but within a team atmosphere and support.  


This position starts:

May 2013.  Training will be 4-6 weeks, paid base salary; commission after training.

Installation Specialist (Oxnard, CA- 3 hour radius)

California Closets is currently hiring entry level, customer service oriented people for our Installation Team. 

California Closets is the original innovator in-home, custom designed storage solutions. Through 30+ years, we have grown from in-home closets to all areas of the home and business. This is an excellent opportunity for unique, innovative professionals with experience in customer service, design, and/or installation.

Our local territory covers Malibu, up to the Cambria (SLO) area. This position will require travel within the workday to client's homes, using a company vehicle. A full criminal and driving background check is performed for all employees who enter our client's homes. We are an equal opportunity employee and a drug-free workplace.  A valid driver's license is required.

The Installation Specialist will work as a part of our Production Team to install jobs at client's homes and manufacture product within the shop as needed. An excellent candidate will have a woodworking, furniture design, or cabinet maker background (or similar). Customer service experience, in sales, hospitality, or the food industry, is a REQUIRED.

4/10 Schedule
The production team works a 4 day/10 hour schedule, 6:45am-5:15pm. Overtime occurs as needed. You start and end each day at our Shop and Offices located in Oxnard, off Del Norte Blvd (101).

At California Closets, we are not a typical 'per contract' company. This position will require an individual to work between our shop and out in the field as needed, allowing for a variety of work on a daily basis and the opportunity to grow with the company.

Problem Solving Skills
You will be asked to 'engineer' solutions both in the field and in the shop. We want to always provide the best, most efficient, innovative solutions for our clients. Part of this position is being able to do that both with preparation and time, but also on the spot in the field at a client's home as appropriate.
Self-Drive and Pride in Your Work 
It is expected that you will take pride in the finished product, not skipping corners or working around your time schedule. You will need to be driven to work independently, with minimal supervision, to hit expected outcomes within the time parameters given to complete the project.
Organization
It is critical that Installers are organized in their tools and vehicles. As we provide tools, you are expected to take care of those tools and maintain them in excellent working condition. Organization is key to delivering a correct product, on-time, and in excellent condition to the customer.
Design Skill
As part of the 'engineering' of solutions, a good eye for what looks good and quality of details is critical in this position. 
Travel
There is a lot of driving in this position, as we install at client homes and businesses within a 5 hour territory. You will drive a company vehicle for this travel. 

This position requires you to be able to be successful independently, but within a team atmosphere and support.

This position starts: 
As soon as we find the BEST fit. We are not hiring just to hire, we are looking for a great fit to the team for the long-term. Base training will be 6-8 weeks, hourly rate starting at $14-16/hour, depending on qualifications. Benefits of health plan and other provided with position.
