Irvington is Oregon's largest historic district and has resumed its status as one of the premier neighborhoods of Portland. The Tour continues its role of bringing neighbors together and raising money for community projects.
Participants enjoyed a walking tour of the beautifully restored homes, including a custom closet designed by Laurie Mills, Design Consultant with California Closets Portland.
"We created a space in an area that wasn't originally a closet. The goal was to increase storage and maintain an open feel. The area more than quadruples the storage in their two small reach-in closets in the master bedroom. "The Antique White finish was chosen to blend with the existing woodwork in the home, while shaker recessed panel drawer faces provide a look that reflects the era of the home. We encorporated open shelving areas and included back panels to add to the finished look of the space. We chose oil rubbed bronze finish for closet poles and hardware with deep drawers under the window for extra storage. The result is a clean, polished design that adds the storage of a walk-in closet to a previously under-utilized space".
