Bill Barton, President and CEO
Bill Barton has been a successful executive and entrepreneur for over 25 years. His management and leadership experience ranges from start-ups and high-growth businesses to larger publicly traded companies. In addition to his tenure here at California Closets, his industry experience includes information technology, financial services, travel, health care, shipping, legal, distribution, real estate, e-commerce and business process outsourcing. Bill has managed U.S.-based businesses as well as operations in Europe, Australia and India. Bill was the co-founder, president and CEO of Tier Technologies (NASDAQ: TIER), an information technology and outsourcing firm specializing in IT solutions for Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. He led the growth of the firm from a single office and one client to over 24 offices on three continents and in excess of $100 million in annual sales.
While still a private company, Tier was named to the "Inc. 500" list of the fastest growing private companies in the America. After a highly successful IPO, Tier was honored by Business Week Magazine as one of the "Hottest Growth Companies" in the U.S. Before becoming a high-tech executive and entrepreneur, Bill held senior management positions at several major U.S. businesses including American Express and American Airlines. Bill graduated from the M.I.T. /Inc. Magazine "Birthing of Giants" Executive Entrepreneurial Leadership Program. He holds a Presidential/Key Executive M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. He has completed continuing education programs at the Harvard Business School and the Stanford Business School. He is a former member of the World Entrepreneurs Organization (WEO) and the Young Presidents Organization (YPO).
Rob Donaldson, Regional Vice President
Rob joined California Closets in 2009, but he has been a part of The Franchise Company since 1992. He began with College Pro Painters, first as an employee, then as a franchise owner for four years. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Rob decided to follow his passion for business and bypass the engineering field. He accepted a full-time position with College Pro as a general manager, then became vice president of the New England Division. In 2007, after 15 years with College Pro, Rob moved on to sister company Floor Coverings International as its director of franchise development. In 2010, he joined California Closets.
Davyd Funk, Executive Vice President, Director of Operations
Davyd Funk has been a part of The Franchise Company since 1993, when he began running his own business as a university student with Action Window Cleaners. After three successful summers as an Action franchisee and after graduating from the University of Waterloo, he joined Action full time as a General Manager and later became the Ontario vice president in 1998. From franchisee to franchisor, Davyd has experienced success at each level, breaking sales records as a franchisee and attaining strong franchisee recruitment numbers as a franchisor with Action. Davyd joined California Closets in 2009.
Lisa Lennard, Vice President Operational Technology
Lisa Lennard has been a part of the California Closets Company since 1998 when she first became a Design Consultant for the Orange County, CA franchise. She quickly became their top selling designer and ultimately specialized in growing and managing the franchises’ very active builder programs. Lisa joined the corporate team in January 2002, and began applying her sales knowledge to the development of sales training and was a leader in initiating the company’s first eLearning center. During her tenure with the corporate office she has been involved in many different areas of the business; from sales management at a local franchise to the design of closets for many of our photo shoots. She has been an integral part of the company’s success in the development of business management software applications for the franchise system. She is currently the Vice President of eCommerce and Information Technology.
Jonathan Louie, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Jonathan Louie has been part of California Closets Company since January 2010. He joins California Closets with 20 years of experience in controller, group controller, VP of Finance and general management roles with Actuant Corporation, Key Components and Valley Forge Corporation. During this time, he managed various consumer and industrial divisions including Marinco, Ancor, Advance Devices, Guest, BEP Marine and BH Electronics. He began his career in public accounting with Ernst and Young after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley.
Troy Mullins, Regional Vice President
Troy Mullins joined The Franchise Company in 1992 as a franchise owner with College Pro Painters, while pursuing a Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1994, he accepted a full time position with the College Pro corporate team as General Manager for the Rockies Division. For the next four years he recruited and trained college students to run their own painting business until 1998. Troy has a diverse career that includes a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy and over 16 years in sales management experience. Troy has attained numerous awards for success in every position he has held from business owner to vice president. Troy returned to The Franchise Company by joining the California Closets executive team in October 2009.
Ginny Snook Scott, Vice President Sales and Marketing
Ginny began her career with California Closets in high school as a showroom attendant in Southern California. In 1991 she became a full-time design consultant for California Closets and began working with customers to create customized design solutions for a wide variety of home spaces. Ginny quickly became one of the company’s top design consultants, achieving sales of nearly $1 million per year. In 1997, Ginny shifted roles within the organization and began working for the corporate office in San Rafael. Her initial charge was to provide sales and design training to design consultants throughout the California Closets organization. This role led to the creation of a Learning and Development department focused on education and skill building for California Closets staff members. Today, Ginny works closely with the company’s operations and marketing departments to coordinate California Closets’ brand messaging and brand delivery efforts across the company’s vast network of franchises. Ginny holds a bachelor of science from University of Southern California.
Vanessa Valdez, Director of Legal Affairs
Vanessa brings experience administrating contracts, grants and projects for a high energy nuclear astrophysics group based at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Vanessa earned her law degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco where she graduated with distinction in intellectual property and earned awards for appellate advocacy and patent litigation and, served on the moot court board. She earned her BA with honors at the University of California Berkeley. Vanessa is admitted to practice law in California. She is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum Committee on Franchising. Vanessa Valdez joined California Closets in 2010.
