Shay Costin, Senior Design Consultant - Interior Designer
After several years of working in the Design industry I have learned that each new project comes with its own unique challenges. You have to have an open flow of communication with your client to ensure that you understand their perspective and are designing a space distinctive to the individual and their personal style.
An important aspect of working with California Closets is that we are a company with a great history and a product that stands the test of time. Our systems add value to a home while also fulfilling day to day needs for organization and a functional home.
That being said, I feel it is important when designing your storage solution that you keep the style of the home in mind. Treat this as an important investment for the future of your home and take into mind the flow of wood colors and door styles throughout your home. Do you have cherry raised panel doors and crown molding in your kitchen and bath? If so, that is a strong indicator as to the direction we should take together in the design projection for your space.
I made my career choice very early on and have spent my entire adult life working in the field of Interior Design. After completing my degree in Interior Design and Communication, I moved to Italy. I studied the intriguing architecture found throughout Umbria and Tuscany. Those experiences give me the ability to create visually sound designs with great spatial balance. Since then I have been working in the Houston area for several years designing beautiful spaces and building great relationships with my wonderful clients.
I love that every day brings new challenges and new faces. I’m privileged to take part in a process that helps a client create a home that does not add to the stress of the day and helps them decompress with a stylish and organized space.
I am obsessed with our Chocolate finish and the Roman Walnut finish from our Lago line. With the right finish you can really make any small space a room to brag about. Combine that with a complementary wall color and you’ve got a designer space that will make your friends jealous.
