A word from Agatha on how the winning Design came together:
"This media centeris built to house a flat screen TV in the center, the bottom has drawers for videos and cabinets for games and toys. Upper shelving has been added to display books and photos and “what-not” reverse corner shelves on the side for displaying knick-knacks . My Client chose Venetian Wenge finish with brushed chrome handles and seedy glass doors above the TV space for their TV components. "
"We faced 2 design obstacles with this project, both electrical and aesthetically. Due to the placement of the electrical outlets and switches we needed to build these components into the unit to provide proper access and use. Additionally, the height of a window on the adjacent wall would need to dictate the height of the base cabinet and location of TV.
"The space for the media center was positioned in an open concept floor plan, in which the media center would become the focal point of the room. With this is mind we needed to design an aesthetically pleasing piece of furniture to that would double as a multi-functional storage unit for TV components, games/toys, as well as a space to decoratively display items. With this design we were able to accomplish the perfect balance between beauty and functionality for all of my Client's style and storage needs."

Comments from Agatha's Client:
"We built a new house and there were just blank walls in the family room area. We had no entertainment furniture of our own and we knew that we wanted to build something that we could customize to our family needs. Our ceilings are 10 feet and I knew that we couldn't buy a piece of furniture that would suit the space and our needs."
I enjoy the look of the media center. I like that it is a mix of formal/classic and contemporary. To me, the color is more contemporary with the grey wood grain while the structure is more classic. This blending of styles is what we needed since my mom lives with us and a lot of her furniture is more formal/classic looking but I like things that are a bit more contemporary/modern. The media center is big (floor to ceiling) and I like that it is such a handsome focal piece as you walk into the front door. It allows us to store the girls' toys and display our books and decorative pieces."
"Agatha was great. I very much enjoyed working with her. She was patient with my uncertainty and asked great questions that helped guide me to what I wanted and needed. Agatha is a very pleasant person as well as a good communicator. She called whenever she needed clarification and I felt that I could call her with my questions and I was never made to feel that I was a bother."
"I would recommend California Closets to my friends and actually already have talked to some friends about their entertainment center needs after they saw our unit in our family room. I like the product and the process overall."
