The Importance Of An Organized Laundry Room In Spring And Summer
It may seem counter-intuitive, but spring and summer are likely the busiest times of year for your laundry room.
In winter, we tend to play things closer to the vest. A great deal of our activities are indoors, safe from the elements and in climate controlled spaces. What we wear in the morning usually lasts us all day.
In spring and summer, however, we go through clothes like crazy. Jogging, playing sports, swimming, working in the yard - every new activity has a different 'uniform' and they all need to be washed after use. We might go through three or four outfits on a particularly busy day.
Now is a good time to make sure that your laundry room is functioning as efficiently as possible.
Clean out any clutter that has accumulated over winter. Combine half empty bottles of detergent. Refresh your cleaning supplies and find a place for all of them on a shelf or in a storage cabinet. Make sure the things you use the most are front and center. Clean off all the tables and countertops to make folding and sorting more efficient. Ensure that you have ample room to create a fluid workflow.
It shouldn't take too long to get your laundry room in top working order; maybe only an hour or two. After you're finished, you'll see what a little organization can do to make one of the least desirable household chores into a project that might be a little more enjoyable.
