A Closet Worth Waiting For

It takes a very special kid to forgo presents on Christmas morning! Adults know that the holiday season is about more than giving gifts, but kids usually can't resist the excitement of brand new toys, games or clothes.

13-year-old Julia Hong had a different idea in mind for Christmas last year. She was determined to redesign her bedroom into a "big girl's room". And she knew exactly what she needed: California Closets.

That's a big gift for a little kid, so her parents made her a deal: Eschew the typical holiday gifts and instead save up grandparents' cash gifts and her allowance for the next six months. Then, her parents would chip in the rest for a new California Closets bedroom system.

No tearing off wrapping paper, comparing loot with friends, or basking in the afterglow of a gift bonanza. Julia delayed the instant gratification of a bunch of gifts for the big payoff down the road!

Julia met the goal and was thrilled to design her new walk-in bedroom closet, with the help of her mom and her design consultant at the Orange County California Closets.

Take a look at the finished product:

Custom design

The closet design is perfect for Julia, with plenty of hanging space, shelves and drawers.

Display shelves

Julia wanted a section to display meaningful belongings. This section can change as Julia grows up and develops new likes and special memories.

Stuffed animal storage

She may have a big kid's closet, but that doesn't mean Julia's prized stuffed animals must go! Now they have plenty of places to hang out in the top shelves of Julia's closet system.

The white finish and flat panels with a pink background create a light, bright look for this pre-teen's closet.

The combination of hanging rods and adjustable shelves keeps everything organized and easily accessible.

How do you like how Julia's closet design? Would your kids would give up Christmas presents for a new custom closet?
