Back to School and Back to Work: Organize the Whole Family This Fall
You've probably noticed the Back-To-School sales starting to pop up here and there. If you're a fortunate parent, your child is getting excited about starting classes, meeting new teachers, making new friends, and getting prepared to dive into their studies.
For some kids, the prospect of new folders, binders, notebooks, pencils and pencil cases rivals birthdays and winter holidays.
Why should kids have all the fun, though?
For a great many of us, summer means excitement and family fun. Everyone seems a bit more relaxed and care-free. There are myriad happy distractions and there's always the hope for something new and different just a weekend away.
Perhaps we don't mind tiring ourselves out during warmer months, because we know that things will settle down soon enough once September lifts over the horizon.
Even if you don't have kids, there's a palpable line between summer fun and buckling down in the fall. We all feel it. The tendency is to focus on the tasks at hand, much like squirrels gathering nuts for winter.
If you're outfitting your children to succeed during the new school year, why not take a look at your home office, too. What can you do for yourself to enhance your productivity? How can you better organize your work space to make your life easier?
A general consensus is that less clutter on our desks translates to less noise in our heads which can lead to clearer and more congruent thinking.
Survey your office and it won't take long before you see room for improvement. Whether it's more usable desk space, better lighting, a more efficient filing system, or a complete overhaul, there are lots of projects you can start today to help you get ready to get back into the swing of things.
