The 3 Best Ways to Organize for Summer
This is the perfect time to put away winter items and organize summer clothing, toys and gear!
It's June and summer is here! Soon the kids will be out of school and we'll be right in the midst of hot days, summer barbecues, sleepaway camp, and family vacations.
Summer is the time of year that has a different pace and different priorities. So, are you ready to get organized?
Here are the top three steps to take to get organized this summer!
1. Smart Storage for Winter Gear
This is the time to swap out winter gear for summer toys!
You need a system for storing heavy clothing, winter boots, snow shovels and cold weather toys while the weather is warm.
First, make sure everything is clean. Then organize and label your items by use (e.g. heavy winter coats, snow/ice tools) and store them neatly in the attic, garage, basement or other long-term storage area. (And remember to take care of those winter sweaters!)
2. Easy Access to Summer Toys
Bring out the patio furniture, pool toys, picnic gear and gardening tools, it's time for outside work and play!
Get clutter off the floor of your garage by hanging your summer gear.
Create spaces in your home (the garage is usually a great place to start) that keep your summer items contained.
Tall cabinets are great for storing large items that can get sloppy (e.g. brooms and rakes), baskets are terrific for grab-and-go small items (e.g. flip flops and beach hats), and wall slats are perfect for hanging gear and equipment (e.g. bikes and tennis rackets).
3. Successful Home Improvement Projects
Summer brings favorable weather conditions, so it's a great time to complete home improvement projects. Better storage - especially custom closets - increases your home's value and make your life more organized and less stressful.
Think about what's bothering you about your storage, so you can choose the right solution.
Is your closet messy and cluttered? Maybe it's time for a custom bedroom closet that keeps everything in its place. Do you struggle with accommodating guests? You might need a wall bed to create more functionality in the same amount of space. Is your garage a clutter magnet? Think about smarter garage design that extends the organization and aesthetic of your home.
It's easy! Three steps: put away winter stuff, organize summer belongings and upgrade your storage for better organization. Here's to a fun and productive summer!
